Test Drive Day   Saturday, 16 November 2002

Hill Kelly Dodge & Wear TV 3 are sponsoring a special event for the Chris Black Scholarship Fund.  This fund is maintained by Pensacola Futbol Club (P.F.C.) to offer financial assistance to players that cannot afford to play.

You can help by coming out & test driving one, or all, of the 6 vehicles that Hill Kelly Dodge will have on hand.  At the end of the event, a donation will be made to the Chris Black Scholarship Fund based on the number of test drives taken.

The event will be on Saturday, 16 November, from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM.  It will take place at the NW pkg. lot at the P.F.C. fields, along the west side of fields 4, 5 and 6.

In addition, experts will be on hand to verify the safety of any car seats you may be using in your current vehicle.

Disciplinary Reminder   Monday, 22 April 2002

Last Week, our 1st of this season, an event occurred where a player was red carded.  He then refused to leave the field.  Tom Dwiggins, President of the Board, had to come over to the field & remind the player that all referee calls are final.

We do NOT overturn referee calls.  However, we do review all red card infractions.  This particular involved what could have become a violent situation.  The Board reviewed this case at 1:00 p.m. the next day!  (We really due strive to serve you efficiently!)  One Board member was involved in the event.  Therefore, he was not involved in the review.  The remaining Board members agreed upon a 2-game suspension for the nature of the infraction.  In addition, for disrespecting the referee's authority, the Board added an additional 1-game suspension.  Therefore, the player involved was notified that he will sit out the next 3 games.

As a Board, we seek to provide a fun, inexpensive and safe opportunity for playing the game that we all enjoy so much.  As such, we will NOT overturn referee calls.  However, we will not tolerate overly aggressive behavior or disrespect for authority on the field.  These standards are universal in our league.  Again, we encourage each player to play hard, fair and safe.  Above all, respect the referee and his / her authority.

Paso Adult Soccer Club   Monday, 15 April 2002

1.                  Requirements for Playing

a.       Pay before you play.  If you have a “special need”, you need to work this out BEFORE you play.

b.      Wear the jersey that you received when you registered.  IF you forget yours and borrow another one, please notify the referee of the number change for that game.  You CANNOT play in any jersey other than the league jersey designated for your team.

c.       Shin guards MUST be worn at all times.

2.                  Rules Clarifications

a.       Penalty Kicks – The team awarded the kick chooses 1 player to take the ball to the ½ way line.  Upon the referee blowing the whistle, this player will have 5 seconds to score.  If no goal is scored, a goal kick is awarded to the defending team (regardless of the outcome).

b.      Yellow Cards – If a player receives a yellow card, they must leave the field for 2 minutes.  It does NOT matter how many goals the other team scores, the penalty is for 2 minutes total.

c.       Dissent – The referee has the FINAL WORD in ALL matters.  Captains will be required to wear a black arm band, so that the referee can easily spot them.  ONLY the captain is to address the referee.  In turn, the referee will address the captain if there is a need to do so.  IF a player, including the captain is dissenting or disrespectful to the referee a yellow card is fully sanctioned by our rules.  We will NOT tolerate disrespect in our league.  Remember, the referee is human.  Just as we all make mistakes in our playing, they too are liable to miss a call or make the wrong one.  That is fully acceptable by the league, and should be by each player as well.

3.                  Communication

Most of you know Tom Dwiggins, our President.  In the past, he has usually been the “catch all” for communication.  We ask that you no longer do this.  Barring any actual physical injury or illegal activity, the board members are simply your fellow players on game night.  We want to enjoy playing as much as you do.

If you have any suggestions, comments, complaints, etc., please e-mail them to us at: board@pensacolasoccer.com This will ensure that the entire board sees them right away.  This is imperative, as we are governed by the entire board.

If you do not have e-mail, you can call the league and leave a voice mail at 324-3289 or fill out a complaint form.  (Forms will be available at all games, starting next week.)
